Today, out of the blue, an ice tream truck appeared at mid-day! It even had the required music – there is no end to the surprises that one finds at an archaeological site! :-)

Today (Thursday) and yesterday (Wednesday), we continued the excavation with some very nice results. In Area E, Itzik and his crew are further uncovering excellently preserved late EB levels, with several architectural elements already popping up. A very interesting find in E was the discovery by Steve Weiner and hisĀ team membersĀ (thru the use of XRF analysis) of a concentration of metallic residues (both of bronze, copper and other evidence) in one of the balks of Area E – dating to the LB III. This may indicate that there was metallurgical activities in this area, and in fact, in the excavation of this area in previous seasons, some very interesting installations were discovered. In light of this discovery, perhaps in future seasons we will expand the excavation in this area to further expose this area.
