New article on Tell es-Safi/Gath during the Persian Period

Dr. Yigal Levin (who served as the director of the academic programs during the summer excavation season at Tell es-Safi/Gath) showed me today that the new volume which he edited (A Time of Change: Judah and Its Neighbors in the Persian and Early Hellenistic Periods, ed. Y. Levin. London: T&T Clark International.) has just appeared.

In this lovely volume, there a collection of very interesting articles on various topics related to the Persian and Hellenistic Periods in the Land of Israel, including an article from the staff of the Tell es-Safi/Gath Archaeological Project:

Avissar, R., Uziel, J., and Maeir, A. 2007. Tell es-Safi/Gath During the Persian Period. Pp. 65–115 in A Time of Change: Judah and Its Neighbors in the Persian and Early Hellenistic Periods, ed. Y. Levin. London: T&T Clark International.

This article deals with the finds from the Persian period that have been found at Tell es-Safi/Gath, both in the earlier British excavations by Bliss and Macalister, as well as in the recent project (up to the 2006 season, primarily finds from the surface survey).
