For those of you who are interested, I just came across a very nice summary on the Philistines in German, written by Carl Ehrlich, in the online Bibellexikon.
Although the part about Tell es-Safi/Gath could be longer and more updated in my opinion, and I would add, or change, a thing here or there in the article, it is a very nice, well-written and balanced survey of the relevant historical, archaeological, and biblical data about the Philistines.
