Meeting in honor of Anson Rainey

The Annual Meeting of the Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology of Bar-Ilan University, will be held this year on Thursday, May 6th, 2010, at Bar-Ilan University, and will be in honor of Prof. Anson Rainey’s 80th birthday. The meeting, which is organized jointly with the Institute of Archaeology of Tel Aviv University (Anson has taught at BIU and TAU for many years), aims to honor Anson Rainey for his seminal contributions to the study of Bible, archaeology, history, linguistics and the culture of the ancient near east.
The lectures, mostly in Hebrew, will be presented by scholars and colleagues from Israel and abroad, on topics closely related to issues that Prof. Rainey has dealt with during his long career.
