Sad news – Zvi (Harvey) Schneider has passed away

Zvi (Harvey) Schneider, the long time (but recently retired) librarian of the Institute of Archaeology of the Hebrew University has passed away suddenly.

Zvi, who was simply the nicest guy on earth, was to many students who had studied at the Hebrew University (including yours truly), the paragon of a helpful, friendly and jovial librarian, who was always there with a helpful hint, a funny joke, and something nice to say.

In addition to being a stellar person, Zvi was a trained archaeologist who had published a few studies over the years.

Zvi will be sorely missed by all who knew him – yehi zichro baruch!

Condolences to his wife Aviva and family.

I was an “almost classmate” of Harvey’s (as I knew him in 1970-71 at the School of Library and Information Scence at The University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada.) I had the opportunity of seeting him again in 2007 while visiting Modi’im (I think it was.) I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.
