On Sunday, January 2nd, 2011, the Second International Conference of the Jeselsohn Epigraphic Center for Jewish History, “Epigraphy and Daily Life – From the Bible to the Talmud”, in memory of Professor Hanan Eshel (z”l), will take place at Bar-Ilan University.
Here is the English program of the meeting: Hanan Eshel Memorial Meeting schedule english
The meeting includes many very interesting lectures and is a fitting memory of a great scholar and stellar person.
As you may know, a volume which was originally organized in honor of Hanan and now unfortunately is in his memory, is now in press (Go out and Study the Land” [Judges 18:12]: Archaeological, Historical and Textual Studies in Honor of Hanan Eshel. Supplements to the Journal for the Study of Judaism 148. Leiden: Brill) . Although we (Jodi Magness, Larry Schiffman, and I, the editors) had hoped that the volume would be out for the meeting, alas, it will not; we will though have a copy of the cover to show at the meeting. We hope that the actual volume will be out in the next few months at the latest.
