We are now in the very hard and very strenuous “wrapping up” part of the season. For the last few days, the dedicated team members who stayed on for the final week have been all working very hard to finish all that is left to finish before we leave the site and the kibbutz.
After brushing up all the areas, final photo shots were taken yesterday and the day before. Yesterday, a large team worked VERY HARD at cleaning out and arranging the two containers in which dig equipment is kept between the seasons. It was a very hard job and this is MUCH appreciated. We then sent a group of people to BIU (and again this morning).
Early in the morning a large group came out the site for the aerial photos. After an hour delay due to a malfunction of the aerial photo camera, shots were taken of all the excavation areas. After that, the team covered over the areas with geotextile tarps and dirt and stones, to protect the excavation areas until next season.
We then went back to the kibbutz for more packing and shlepping.
Hopefully, by late afternoon, all things will be finished.
This evening we have the final party (felafel, etc.) and then tomorrow we are all of.
And we can already start counting the days for next year!
It was a great season! Now we have to start working on all the finds and plan for next season!
Thanks to all the team members for their hard work! We could not have done such a great job without them!!!!
I’ll keep updating with interesting things off-season as well!
