Another interesting book to check out on Philistine and other cult structures

Another interesting has appeared in the AOAT series, which deals with cult structures of the Philistines, Sea Peoples and other neighboring cultures of the Israelites in the Iron I-II.

The volume is entitled:

Elkowitz, D. 2012. Tempel und Kultplätze der Philister und der Völker des Ostjordanlandes: Eine Untersuchung zur Bau- und zur Kultgeschichte während der Eisenzeit I-II. Alter Orient und Altes Testament 378. Munich: Ugarit-Verlag.

Definitely have to check this out, as in the TOC (on the AOAT website) it says that it deals among other things, with both the “cultic corner” and “possible temple” at Safi.

I will have to read this as well, comprehensively. Fortunately, I am able to read German with good comprehension (although it often leads to a headache :)

I don’t think he visited Safi – or at least I don’t remember that he did. And if he would asked, I probably could have provided some additional info about the cult-related finds…
