Yesterday I received my copy of: Orlin, E., Fried, L. S., Knust, J. W., Satlow, M. L., and Pregill, M. E., eds. 2016. The Routledge Encyclopedia of Ancient Mediterranean Religions. New York: Routledge.

This volume, which is chock-full of entries on a plethora of topics relating to religions and connected aspects of the Mediterranean region, from earliest times until late Antiquity, is quite an impressive collection. Many scholars, including well-known ones contributed various entries, and while by definition they are short and concise, in most cases are excellent summaries of the relevant topic.

I contributed four entries to the volume: Ba’al Zebub; Medinet Habu; Pentapolis; Sea Peoples.
