Happy to announce the appearance of a new article:
Maeir, A. M. 2022. You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby! Changing perspectives on the Philistines. Journal of Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology and Heritage Studies 10/3-4: 216-39
In this study, I review the development of and (my) current views on the study of the Philistines.
This is a part of an issue of JEMAHS which has several of the papers from a conference on the Philistines that was held at Yeshiva University in New York in 2019 (organized by Jill Katz; previously mentioned here and here), just before the pandemic!
Among the papers, there are a few by Safi team members, including on Philistine iconography (by D. Ben-Shlomo), Philistine botany (by S. Frumin), an architectural biography of a building in Area A at Safi (L. Hitchcock), and about Judean Gath (by J. Chadwick.
For the entire issue, see: https://scholarlypublishingcollective.org/psup/jemahs/issue/10/3-4
And on this occasion, let me wish all those celebrating a happy, joyous and meaningful Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, Kwanzaa, etc.!
