Meeting on the military history of Gaza (BIU, April 1, 2024)

On Monday, April 1st, 2024, the Martin (Szusz) Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology at Bar-Ilan University, in cooperation with the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Israeli Police, will convene an academic meeting on the military history of the Gaza region, from the Bronze Age until the present war.

The lectures, in Hebrew, will include talks on the archaeology and history of conflicts in the region in the past (I’ll be speaking about the Bronze and Iron Ages), various aspects of Gaza in the recent past, and several lectures on the events on October 7th and its aftermath, including discussing the forensic archaeology of the massacre sites, conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority, to identify victims of the HAMAS atrocities.
