New book for Jill Katz (YU) – Safi team member!

Congratulations are in order for Dr. Jill Katz (Yeshiva University), who has been digging with us for several years and who leads the YU team to the Tell es-Safi/Gath excavations, who has just had a book of hers published by Gorgias Press.

Here are the details:
Katz, J. 2009. The Archaeology of Cult in Middle Bronze Age Canaan. Gorgias Press: Piscataway, NJ (ISBN 978-1-59333-791-9).

The book, which is an updated version of her PhD dissertation from the Univ. of Pennsylvania, deals with the archaeological remains of cult at the MB II temple at Tel Haror, in the NW Negev.

Here is the blurb that the publisher has provided:
Canaanite public religious practice during the Middle Bronze Age centered on the temple and its courtyards. The evidence from Tel Haror (biblical Gerar), Israel, suggests a multi-sensory, dynamic, experience including animal sacrifices, incense burning, and ritual feasting.

Mabruk – Congrads – Kol Hakavod!
